Frequently Asked Questions And Answers

Always call 9-1-1

The fire department does not have someone in the office EVERY DAY, and never in the evenings. Calling Security will delay response so please Call 9-1-1 for the quickest response time.

ANIMAL BITE

If you have a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

All dog bites must be reported to Hill Co Sheriff's Office. Non-emergency number to HCSO is 254-582-5313, extension 1 for dispatch. It is required by law. It will help if you know who owns the animal that bit the person or child.  The dog will be either home quarantined or taken to Young Animal Hospital in Hillsboro during business hours or the next business day. If after hours, a deputy will come out and take a report and will be followed up by HCSO Animal Control Officer.

CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

Do I need a carbon monoxide detector? Yes, if you have a Natural Gas or Propane fired appliance in your home. If the alarm sounds, get out of the house first, then call 911, Not Security.

FIRE DEPARTMENT PUBLIC EDUCATION

The fire department frequently gives out free 9-1-1 education items at various events in

White Bluff.  Make sure to stop by and pick up some very useful information.

FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER

Throughout the year we have Pancake Breakfast events, a 4th of July burger and hotdog cookout, Annual POA meeting and our big event the Annual BBQ Fundraiser.

LAKE RESCUE TEAM

WBVFD has a pontoon boat docked at WB marina.  We rescue stranded boaters and respond to medical emergencies on the lake when dispatched by 9-1-1. We are the only rescue boat on Lake Whitney.

GAS SMELL

Get out of the house first. Then call 9-1-1 for the Fire Department from outside of the house or from a neighbor's house. The use of a phone could cause the gas to ignite if you called from inside the house.

JAWS OF LIFE

The Jaws of Life are used to get people out that are trapped in a vehicle after an accident.  WBVFD responds inside and outside of WB to assist surrounding fire departments when requested.  The fire truck also carries other tools needed to assist firefighters for structure fires and is the first truck that goes on the majority of calls.
