The White Bluff Volunteer Fire Department (WBVFD) is a team of volunteers serving our community and Hill County with fire protection and emergency medical response. Our firefighters and medical first responders train regularly to stay ready.

Our Firefighter Rehab members support firefighters on scene. Our Firefighter Assist and Support Team (FAST) help keep the department running with fundraising, social activities, scheduling yearly flu clinics and events to benefit the community.

You can serve as a firefighter, join the medical team, help support our firefighters through our Rehab unit or F.A.S.T. team. Every role is voluntary, and every role matters.

We welcome new members-no skills required.  We're not looking for heroes, just neighbors join WBVFD.

A Big Thank you to all our residents and neighbors who came out despite the rain to support us in 2025!

What a great BBQ fundraiser! It could not have happened without so many behind-the-scenes volunteers. Our Support Team started planning this event in April, and each month, more and more volunteers joined to help in the planning.

 

A special thank you to Bill Dudley of B&C Exteriors. He graciously donated the brisket, sausage, and new this year, chicken. The meat was delicious and enjoyed by all. Bill also had a team of amazing BBQ chefs who stayed up all night smoking the meats, sometimes in the pouring rain.

 

While dining and in between raffles and auctions, Old Leather Band, with our own firefighter Tony Dement, kept everyone tapping their toes with their music. Thank you to all of our residents and area businesses for donating all of our raffle, silent auction, and live auction items. Our Live auction got everyone in a bidding war over a few of our awesome donations.

NEW FIREFIGHTER REHAB UNIT 

The WBVFD recently purchased a used 2016 ambulance to upgrade its abilities to assist firefighters during long emergency incidents. This Unit will go on calls within Hill County when dispatched. 


Previously the Support Team had been working out of a van that would carry coolers with water and rehydrating drinks, and due to limited space, only protein bars and snacks. After the Blum Fire in 2023 and the continued high fire danger in Hill County, it was realized that a larger more equipped unit was needed.


With the larger unit they were able to add a microwave which allows them to prepare soup or meals and a coffee maker, as well as having additional room for water, rehydrating drinks, and snacks. Very importantly, it offers a firefighter a place to cool off or warm up within the unit. It also carries an AED, oxygen and medical supplies to handle minor emergencies until CareFlite arrives, along with chairs, canopies, a cot and much more.


Many fires and emergencies can last 3 or more hours with firefighters working in extreme conditions and temperatures. This Unit will help firefighters rest and recharge during a fire.
